The Drama Of Metamorphosis
Program description
Through voice and physical movement, students will discover the process of metamorphosis as it relates to the life cycle of a butterfly and the transformation of an actor into a character.
Introduction
Students learn about the four stages of metamorphosis, the role of an actor, and set-up for the imaginary TV show, “Science Alive.”
Instruction and warm-up
Students create the four stages of metamorphosis with their bodies and voices and make predictions about the next stage as they learn about them through words and pictures.
Performance
After breaking into groups to rehearse one of the four “acts,” each group will perform for the imaginary television show and be interviewed by the host,” Dr. Catherine Curiosity.”
